Šara Stranovsky is a dancer, songwriter, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and multimedia artist. With Slovakian roots, an a New York upbringing in between the mountains and the city Šara’s artistry reflects the contrasts between rural and urban, American and Global, soft and fierce. Šara draws from her education (Middlebury College, UCLA, and Sarah Lawrence College in Paris) as well as life experiences living in Vermont, Colorado, California, France, Senegal, Brazil, and Cabo Verde, culminating in an explosion of cross-cultural and cross-platform artistic versatility. Šara’s scholarly background in Culture and Performance Studies incorporated deep cultural work in Brazil, Cabo Verde, and Senegal, which has inspired a lot of her work. Šara works as a musician, dancer, photographer, educator and ethnographic storyteller.
